RBN Insurance Services Data Breach Investigation

What Happened?

According to a report with the Maine Attorney General's office, an email security incident occurred at RBN Insurance Services. The data breach was first detected on May 15, 2024, when suspicious activity was discovered within an employee's email account. An investigation was launched hat revealed that unauthorized access persisted from March 5, 2024, until detection, exposing sensitive data including:

• names,
• Social Security numbers,
• addresses,
• dates of birth,
• financial information,
• medical information,
• life insurance information,
• and health insurance information.

After a thorough review process completed on September 12, 2024, RBN Insurance Services began sending out data breach notification letters on November 14, 2024, to inform affected individuals about the nature of the compromised data.
