This data breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at Sirva, which may have affected an undetermined number of individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information.

What Happened?

A recent report from the Attorney General of Massachusetts states that the Amgen data breach occurred due to a cyber security attack that was discovered on September 29, 2023 after Sirva discovered suspicious activity within its computer network. An investigation was launched that confirmed that between August 16, 2023 and October 17, 2023 an unauthorized party accessed portions of Sirva’s IT network and accessed files containing confidential information. Sirva reviewed the files to determine which consumers were impacted and what information was compromised. Sirva also informed Amgen of the incident on August 24, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include:

  • names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • financial account information,
  • employment information,
  • medical information,
  • contact information
  • and dates of birth

Data breach letters were sent out by Amgen on September 24, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
