At Console & Associates, our data breach lawyers are closely examining the recent ALN Medical Management data breach. This data breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at ALN Medical Management, which has affected patients at multiple healthcare facilities, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information including names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information.

What Happened?

A recent report from the Massachusetts Attorney General's office states that the ALN Medical Management data breach occurred due to unauthorized access to files stored on a third-party hosting service. According to the filing, in March 2024, ALN detected suspicious activity in certain systems hosted by their third-party service provider.

The company responded by securing their network, isolating the affected environment, and launching a comprehensive investigation. While the unauthorized party was unable to breach ALN Medical Management's internal network, investigators confirmed that between March 18 and March 24, 2024, an unauthorized party gained access to the third-party hosted environment containing confidential patient information.

Following this discovery, ALN Medical Management conducted a thorough review of all compromised files, which was completed on January 31, 2025. The investigation revealed that the exposed information may include:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial account information

This breach has impacted patients from multiple healthcare facilities that utilize ALN Medical Management’s services, including:

  • National Spine and Pain in Frederick, Maryland
  • Inpatient Physician Associates, LLC in Lincoln, Nebraska
  • Hoag Clinic in Costa Mesa, California
  • Allied Physicians Group in Melville, New York

Data breach letters were sent out by ALN Medical Management on March 21, 2025, informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and detailing which of their personal information was compromised in the breach.

Steps To Take If You Were Affected By A Data Breach

  1. Monitor all accounts and credit reports closely
    1. Set up alerts for suspicious activity
    2. Review all financial statements thoroughly
    3. Request free credit reports and examine them for unauthorized entries

  2. Consider freezing your credit
    1. Contact all three major credit bureaus to place a freeze
    2. Understand this prevents new accounts from being opened in your name
    3. Remember to temporarily lift the freeze when applying for legitimate credit

  3. Look out for phishing attempts using information from the ALN Medical Management data breach
    1. Be wary of unexpected emails or messages claiming to be from ALN Medical Management
    2. Don't click on suspicious links or download unexpected attachments
    3. Verify all communications through official channels

  4. Change passwords for affected accounts
    1. Create strong, unique passwords for each account
    2. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters
    3. Consider using a password manager for better security

  5. Enable two-factor authentication where possible
    1. Add this extra layer of security to all important accounts
    2. Use authenticator apps rather than SMS when available
    3. Keep backup codes in a secure location
