What Happened?

According to a notice filed with the California AG Office, unusual activity was discovered on June 22, 2026 on the computer network of Genesis Healthcare Management, the management company for Kern Psychiatric Health and Wellness Center. The investigation determined that certain files on that network, which house patient data, were accessed without authorization. Information exposed in the breach reportedly included full names, Social Security numbers, driver's license and government identification numbers, dates of birth, diagnosis and treatment information, prescription information, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, Medicare and Medicaid identification numbers, lab results, and health insurance information. A comprehensive review of the affected files was conducted to determine whose information was involved. Affected individuals were notified by mail beginning August 19, 2026.
