Data Breach Incident Details

A recent report from the Attorney General of California states that the UC San Diego Health was compromised due to a cyber security attack on January 9, 2024. The company learned that through a phishing attack, an unauthorized party accessed certain employee email accounts prompting them to launch an investigation. It was confirmed that the unauthorized party was able to access multiple employee email accounts between January 9, 2024 and January 22, 2024. The unauthorized party was also able to access confidential information stored within the affected email accounts. Data breach letters were sent out by UC San Diego Health on March 8, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
