A recent report from the Attorney General of Maine states that the Singing River Health System was compromised due to a ransomware attack on August 19, 2023.

On August 19, 2023, Singing River Health System noticed suspicious activity in its systems. The organization secured its systems and started an investigation with third-party forensic experts.

By May 13, 2024, the Singing River Health System data breach investigation revealed that private information was compromised. The leaked information included names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical information, and health insurance information. 

Data breach letters were sent out by Singing River Health System on May 13, 2024, informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.

Singing River Health System Overview

Established in 1931, Singing River Health System operates from its headquarters in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and comprises three hospitals: Pascagoula Hospital, Ocean Springs Hospital, and Gulfport Hospital. Beyond these hospitals, the health system manages numerous primary care clinics, community medical parks, and specialty medical centers across Mississippi. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Singing River Gulfport, it employs over 2,200 staff members and brings in about $367 million in annual revenue.
