This data breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at RetailData, which may have affected as many as 17,165 individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information.

 

What Happened?

A recent report from the Attorney General of California states that the RetailData data breach occurred due to a cyber security attack that was discovered on June 22, 2024 after the company learned that an unauthorized party accessed portions of its computer network. RetailData launched an investigation that confirmed that the unauthorized party accessed its network on June 22, 2024, including files containing consumer information. RetailData reviewed the files to determine which consumers were impacted and what information was compromised. Data breach letters were sent out by RetailData on September 6, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.

  3. Look out for phishing attempts using information from the RetailData data breach
  4. Change passwords for affected accounts
