Data Breach Incident Details

A recent report from the Attorney General of Maine states that Kovack Financial was compromised due to a cyber security attack that was discovered on September 5, 2023 after the company determined that an unauthorized party accessed certain company email accounts. An investigation confirmed that a third-party vendor experienced a cyber security issue that impacted personal information belonging to Kovack Financial clients. On June 10, 2024, Kovack Financial also confirmed that emails were viewed by an unauthorized party between August 15, 2023 and September 5, 2023. Data breach letters were sent out by Kovack Financial on July 9, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
