What Happened?

According to a report filed with the California Attorney General's office, Kaiser Permanente identified unauthorized access to two employee email accounts on September 3, 2024. An investigation was launched that confirmed that the compromised email accounts contained sensitive information belonging to certain individuals. The data breach exposed sensitive patient data including:

  • First and last names
  • Dates of birth
  • Medical record numbers
  • Medical information

Kaiser noted in the data breach letter that sensitive information such as credit card numbers and Social Security numbers were not included in the affected information.
