A recent report from the Attorney General of Massachusetts’s office states that the Gerber Life Insurance data breach occurred due to a cyber security incident. On December 5, 2024, Gerber Life became aware that an unauthorized party had accessed certain call center systems used for customer support. In response, the company swiftly disabled the unauthorized access and launched an investigation to understand the extent of the breach and whether any consumer data had been compromised. By December 11, 2024, the investigation confirmed that the unauthorized party had accessed information related to specific policies and policyholders.
Following this discovery, Gerber Life conducted a detailed review of the affected files to assess what sensitive data had been exposed and to identify which consumers were impacted.
