FTV Employment Services (Fortive) Data Breach Investigation

This data breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at Fortive, which may have affected as many as 10,680 individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information.

What Happened? 

A recent report from the Attorney General of Maine states that the Fortive data breach occurred due to a cyber security attack that was discovered in October and November of 2023 after the company detected unusual activity within its computer network. Fortive launched an investigation that confirmed that between January 25, 2023 and November 6, 2023 an unauthorized party accessed portions of its IT network and accessed files and folders containing confidential information belonging to certain individuals. Fortive reviewed the files to determine which consumers were impacted and what information was compromised. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include:

• dates of birth,
• Social Security numbers,
• driver's license numbers,
• state-issued identification card numbers,
• passport numbers,
• birth certificate numbers,
• financial account numbers,
• and health insurance information 

Data breach letters were sent out by Fortive on October 3, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data. A few of Fortive’s subsidiaries reported a data breach to one or more state attorney general offices:

• Fluke Corp.
• Industrial Scientific Corporation

• Setra Systems, Inc.
• The Gordian Group, Inc.
