Farmers Insurance Data Breach Class Action Investigation

This data breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at Infosys McCamish Systems (“IMS”), which may have affected as many as 25,867 individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information.

 

What Happened?

According to the Maine Attorney General's report, IMS detected unauthorized system access and ransomware deployment between October 29 and November 2, 2023. The data breach compromised files containing sensitive data belonging to Farmers Insurance life insurance and annuity customers. Infosys launched an investigation with the help of outside cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement. The company also notified Farmers of the incident on May 28, 2024. Data breach notification letters were distributed by IMS on November 15, 2024, detailing the specific personal information exposed during this incident.
