EngageMED Data Breach Class Action Investigation

What Happened?

A recent report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights states that the EngageMED data breach occurred due to a cyber security attack on July 3, 2024 after the company identified suspicious activity within its computer network. EngageMED launched an investigation that confirmed that between June 12, 2024 and July 3, 2024 an unauthorized party accessed portions of its IT network, including files containing patient information. EngageMED reviewed the files to determine which consumers were impacted and what information was compromised. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your:

  • names,
  • addresses,
  • dates of birth,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • medical information,
  • health insurance information,
  • and claim information

Data breach letters were sent out by EngageMED on August 30, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
