At Console & Associates, our data breach lawyers are closely examining the recent Financial Business and Consumer Solutions data breach. This data breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at Comcast, which may have affected as many as 237,703 individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information.

What Happened?

A recent report from the Attorney General of Maine states that the Comcast data breach occurred due to a cyber security attack that was discovered on March 13, 2024 after FBCS notified Comcast that it had experienced a data breach. The company launched an investigation that confirmed that between February 14, 2024 and February 16, 2024 an unauthorized party accessed FBCS’s network and downloaded files containing confidential information. FBCS reviewed the files to determine which consumers were impacted and what information was compromised. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include:

  • names,
  • addresses,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • dates of birth,
  • and Comcast account numbers

Data breach letters were sent out by Comcast on October 3, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
