A recent report from the Attorney General of Maine states that the Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance was compromised due to a cyber security attack. In October 2022, the Virginia Farm Bureau was notified by the Department of Homeland Security that their systems had been compromised. An investigation confirmed that unauthorized access occurred between October 6-16, 2022, resulting in encrypted files and potentially downloaded consumer data. Data breach letters were sent out by Virginia Farm Bureau on February 15, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
