A recent report from the Attorney General of Massachusetts states that the Newport Group was compromised due to a cyber security attack at its vendor, Infosys McCamish. On November 2, 2023, Infosys McCamish was hit with a ransomware attack prompting the company to immediately disconnect the vendor's systems and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that unauthorized parties accessed certain Newport Group information stored on the Infosys McCamish systems. Data breach letters were sent out by Newport Group on February 16, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.

Newport Group, Inc., headquartered in Walnut Creek, CA, offers recordkeeping, plan administration, consulting, and other financial services. In 2022, Newport merged with Ascensus, a Pennsylvania recordkeeping and third-party administrator company.
