At Console & Associates, our data breach lawyers are closely examining the recent DonorPerfect data breach. This breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident, which may have affected an unknown number of individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal information.
A recent report from the Attorney General of Vermont states that the DonorPerfect was compromised due to a cyber security attack. In December 2023, Good Counsel discovered an unauthorized online post of a donor's check image. The organization contacted their vendor DonorPerfect, who manages their donations, and investigated their own IT network. It was confirmed that while Good Counsel's network was secure, donor information was exposed through the DonorPerfect breach. Data breach letters were sent out by Good Counsel on February 15, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
DonorPerfect is fundraising software by Softerware, Inc. that provides non-profits with donor management, tracking, mailing, and other administrative services.
