Data Breach Incident Details

A recent report from the Attorney General of Massachusetts states that the CIGNA was compromised due to a cyber security attack. Prospect provides administrative services for CIGNA healthcare providers and the company recently experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized network access. On August 1, 2023, suspicious activity was detected, prompting them to contain the incident and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that between July 31 and August 3, 2023, an unauthorized party accessed Prospect's network and acquired files containing confidential CIGNA health plan member information.

Data breach letters were sent out by CIGNA on January 31, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
