A recent report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights states that the Cherry Health was compromised due to a cyber security attack that was discovered on December 21, 2023 after the company experienced a network disruption affecting employees’ ability to access the company’s IT network. Cherry Health launched an investigation that is ongoing but confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access its computer systems as well as confidential information belonging to certain patients. Data breach letters were sent out by Cherry Health on February 15, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
