This breach was disclosed by the Newport Group after Infosys McCamish Systems, one of the company’s vendors, was targeted in a recent cyber security incident, which may have affected an unknown number of individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal information.
A recent report from the Attorney General of Montana states that the Barings was compromised due to a cyber security attack. On October 29, 2023, Infosys McCamish was the target of a cyberattack where an unauthorized party accessed the company’s computer network. This may have included information belonging to Barings plan participants and their beneficiaries. Newport uses Infosys McCamish as a service provider to process transactions related to Barings deferred compensation plans. Data breach letters were sent out by Newport Group on March 25, 2024 informing affected Barings’ individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.

Based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, Barings LLC is a financial services and investment management company. It was created in 2016 when four affiliated firms, all previously under the MassMutual umbrella, merged to create the company.
