A recent report from the Attorney General of Massachusetts states that the Amtrak was compromised due to a cyber security attack that was discovered on May 15, 2024 after the company determined that an unauthorized actor potentially used Amtrak customer login credentials to access customers’ Amtrak Guest Rewards account. An investigation confirmed that an unauthorized actor accessed customers’ Guest Rewards accounts between May 15, 2024 and May 18, 2024. Data breach letters were sent out by Amtrak on June 14, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
