A recent report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights states that the American Renal Associates was compromised due to a cyber security attack. While information on the breach is still limited, according to the HIPAA Journal, a ransomware group took credit for the attack that they claimed took place on March 2, 2024. As a result, the group was able to obtain roughly 5 TB of data. Data breach letters will need to be sent out by American Renal Associates informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
