At Console & Associates, our data breach lawyers are closely examining the recent Ally Bank data breach. This breach was disclosed following a cyber security incident at Ally Bank, which may have affected an undetermined number of individuals, potentially exposing sensitive personal identifiable information.

What Happened?

A recent report from the Attorney General of Massachusetts states that the Ally Bank data breach occurred due to a cyber security attack on April 23, 2024 after the bank determined that an unauthorized party accessed personal information belonging to Ally Bank customers. An investigation was launched and it appears that the incident stemmed from an incident at one of the bank’s third-party vendors. It was also confirmed that the confidential information of Ally Bank customers was subject to unauthorized access. Ally Bank reviewed the files to determine which consumers were impacted and what information was compromised. While the information breached varies depending on the individual, it may include:

  • names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • dates of birth,
  • and auto account numbers

Data breach letters were sent out by Ally Bank on May 23, 2024 informing affected individuals about the nature of the incident and compromised data.
